I always enjoy going to Holystone woods, it’s one of my favourite places and I can always find photographs here. There’s a line of beech trees that I often head to. On this still and misty autumnal morning, I was rather keen to get to them. So, on arrival, I was a little disappointed to find the sun had burnt through and the mist was receding. I still set up though, more in hope than anticipation. I took a few photographs and was about to head off, when a red squirrel appeared and made it apparent that I was not welcome, shouting and waving it’s tail. This of course, made me stay and watch, then I noticed the mist had returned. I had to quickly decide on exposing for the shadows or the highlights, I went for the shadows and let the light burn through.
