There are times when I can spend a bit too much time on a popular selling website. I can often disappear down a rabbit hole looking at cameras and it was on one such occasion, that I came across a rather lovely Kodak Retinette. It was in remarkable condition for a camera that hadn’t been used in over 40 years, so I loaded it with some film and set out on my bike. It was a bright and still morning, perfect for cycling and photography. I stopped off on my way to the Ouseburn and took my first photographs, I would go on to finish the roll. For a fairly basic camera and of it’s time, it produced some pleasing results. This photo, looking up the River Tyne, couldn’t be taken with any other camera, that slight softness almost makes it glow.
